Discover what lies beneath the surface...

Preserving and maintaing archaeological, environmental and Aboriginal heritage across the Parramatta Light Rail route is a key priority for this major transport infrastructure project.

In the course of building the new light rail network, any historic artefacts encountered are preserved for a specific purpose or in a place that will evoke and pay tribute to its history.

Sign up for our live Parramatta Light Rail Heritage Q&A to hear about the fascinating history unearthed beneath the Parramatta Light Rail alignment by our team of expert archaeologists.

The $2.4 billion Parramatta Light Rail will connect Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia, transporting around 28,000 people every day to key destinations, new communities and essential services.

It is expected to open in 2023. Find out more about Parramatta Light Rail
