Under the direction of an ambitious 10 year Arts Plan Parramatta has committed to creating an environment which allows arts and cultural activity to prosper and interact with all aspects of city life.

Parramatta's reputation as a dynamic and creative regional city is growing on the back of performance venues such as Riverside Theatres, creative production spaces in the Parramatta Artists Studios, Connect Studios and Information & Cultural Exchange (ICE), and the city’s visible and vibrant Public Art and Major Events Program.

Contemporary arts are flourishing in Parramatta with an annual program of exhibitions, international residencies, performances, festivals, public events and activities.

Riverside Theatres

Riverside - the best place to catch professional theatre, dance, opera & comedy. The Sydney Festival, Sydney Writers Festival, Mardi Gras & the Arab Film Festival are just part of the lineup.

Artists Studios

The Studios offer 14 affordable non-residential & 1 residential studio to emerging and established contemporary artists, craft practitioners & creative professionals. The gallery is open to the public 5 days/wk.

Female Orphan School & Margaret Whitlam Galleries

One of the very few surviving public buildings of its size dating from the early colonial period. Predating even Hyde Park Barracks, the Female Orphan School is the oldest three-storey building in the country.
