Celebrating 26 years as ‘The Home Of Great Short Film’ in 2017 Flickerfest remains Australia’s leading Academy® Accredited and BAFTA recognised short film festival.
Flickerfest is excited to be bringing the National Tour to Parramatta for the first time on Saturday 25th March, at the lovely Riverside Theatres, showcasing the Best of Australian and the Best of International short film programmes.
The Flickerfest programmes present a selection of entertaining, inspiring and award-winning films hand-picked from the festival’s 2400 entries, giving local Flickerfest audiences the first look at the hottest shorts in the world today.
The Flickerfest 2017 tour to Parramatta will screen the Best of International 1 shorts programme on Saturday 25th March at 6pm. Highlights include: Academy® Award Nominee ‘Timecode’ from Spain; the moving and insightful ‘Nocturne In Black’ from Lebanon, ‘a musician struggling to rebuild his piano after it is destroyed by Jihadists’; plus ‘Battalion to My Beat’, ’13-year-old Miriam runs away from a Western Sahara refugee camp’.
The same night at 8.45pm, get ready for the Best of Australian Shorts programme, featuring the powerful ‘Adele’, ‘Adele is torn between high school and the home where she is a wife in an arranged marriage’. Director Mirene Igwabi aims to “shed light on this important and unseen issue in Australian/African society”.
Also screening is the uplifting ‘Spice Sisters’, ‘Rohini is bored and restless with her life and decides to compete in a reality competition’; the brilliant animation ‘Fish with Legs’ voiced by Frank Woodley and Barry Otto; and the witty ‘The Eleven O’Clock’, written by and starring Josh Lawson, ‘a delusional patient and his psychiatrist attempt to treat each other as the session gets increasingly out of control’.
Festival drinks & nibbles between sessions (incl. with a ticket to either program).
