Freedom of Entry Parade
More than 250 naval officers from HMAS Parramatta IV will march through Parramatta on Tuesday, 8 October 2013 as part of a Freedom of Entry Parade, commemorating the centenary of the First Royal Australian Navy Fleet entry into Sydney in 1913.
The Parade will commence at 12.30pm from Darcy Street, where it will wind its way through Church Street Mall, then along Church Street. At approximately 1pm, four helicopters will fly over the City.
The people of Parramatta are welcome to visit their ship as HMAS PARRAMATTA will be open to the public as part of the IFR Warship Open Days, Sunday 6 and Monday 7 October at Barangaroo. Tickets are available through Ticketek.
Darcy Street and Church Street between Macquarie and Market Streets will be closed to traffic from 11am-3pm.
Colouring In Competition
Parramatta City Council has launched a colouring competition to engage local children in the Freedom of Entry Parade. The child with the winning entry can win their family a visit aboard the HMAS Parramatta when it is in Sydney.
The colouring competition is limited to children aged three to 12 years. Entries must be submitted to Council by 5pm, 11 October.
