Sahra By The River
Sahra by the River is fine Lebanese cuisine at its best. The riverside location, paired with an adventurously exotic menu makes for a memorable feast. Owner Talal Alamein is an excellent host and has converted many to the flavours of Lebanon.
The ‘Special Banquet’ at $35 per person for 8 courses, available lunch and dinner, is a great way to try out the menu. Featuring delicious homemade dips: houmous, labneh and babaghannouj, mixed grills with lamb, chicken and kafta as well as rice and lentil pilaf.
From the menu, there’s plenty to savour: 'Moroccan Pistachio Couscous' ($29) with grilled chicken fillet and vegetables in a chickpea salsa. No Lebanese meal is complete without the traditional 'Mijadara' ($25), a rice and lentil pilaf with caramelized onion served with minted yoghurt.
There’s also the signature 'Beirut Samke Harrah Snapper' ($29) - a grilled fillet with roasted pine nuts and coriander gremolata served with saffron rice drizzled with sesame Tahini.
Friday and Saturday are great nights to visit not only is the food great, the atmosphere heats up as well with live bellydancing shows, seriously fun!
