Old Govt House

Old Government House is Australia's oldest public building and one of the most historic. It operates as a house museum managed by the National Trust and dedicated to the early colonial Governors, in particular the life and society of Lachlan Macquarie and his wife Elizabeth Macquarie.

It is available for a full range of venue hire including weddings, film and photography, corporate functions, launches and boutique events, balls, concerts and special occasions.

Old Government House provides a beautiful backdrop for weddings and lends itself perfectly to wedding photography. The columns of the portico and the simmering water of the Parramatta River are also lovely.

The venue also has small rooms for hire (suiting corporate meetings, special occasions etc), including an exclusive dining experience for up to 12 people in the beautifully refurbished dining room of Governor Macquarie. Catering is provided by Lachlan's Restaurant.

Lachlan's is located within the National Trust's Old Government House Parramatta and is open every day for general dining and for specific functions, corporate events, seminars and weddings.

There are 3 private dining rooms seating 10 to 30 guests, a long vine covered verandah for outside dining and a picturesque silk-lined garden marquee with air conditioning, polished timber flooring and picture windows looking through the trees to the river for functions and weddings from 40 to 240 guests.

Old Government House has featured in Film and Television dramas, light entertainment and children’s shows including ‘Oscar and Lucinda’, ‘Rogue Nation’, ‘The Collectors’ and ‘The Kingdom of Parramithi’. It has been used for numerous commercial photo shoots providing a variety of elegant, rustic and ‘countryfied’ interior and exterior backgrounds.
